Arkansas Pay Frequency and the Records Behind It
State law here says more about when wages are paid than about how a stub is laid out. Under Ark. Code 11-4-401, corporations doing business in the state that employ salespersons, mechanics, laborers or other servants must pay wages semimonthly, with a narrow exception letting larger corporations pay certain FLSA-exempt management and executive staff at least once each calendar month. Section 11-4-217 makes the employer keep, for at least three years, each worker's name, address, occupation, rate of pay and the amount paid each pay period. Section 11-4-303 lets the director of the Department of Labor hear disputes over wages earned and allow or reject a deduction, and smaller wage claims go to the department's Labor Standards Section.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my last paycheck if I am discharged in Arkansas?
Ark. Code 11-4-405 covers workers discharged by a company or corporation doing business in the state. You may request or demand the wages due, and if they are not paid within seven days of the discharge or the refusal to keep employing you, a penalty attaches: wages continue at the same rate from the date of discharge until payment, stopping after sixty days unless an action is commenced in that time. Smaller wage claims can go to the Labor Standards Section.
Is a generated draft an employer-issued pay statement in Arkansas?
No. A generated draft can help organize genuine payroll information, but it does not verify employment or income and does not replace a statement issued by an employer or payroll provider.
Where should I verify Arkansas payroll deductions?
Check the current instructions from the IRS and the relevant Arkansas tax and labor agencies. The calculator provides estimates from the information entered; local taxes, special programs, filing status, and payroll circumstances can change the result.
What records should an independent contractor keep in Arkansas?
Keep invoices, contracts, platform payout statements, bank records, expense records, and Forms 1099 when applicable. A personal earnings draft can support reconciliation, but it should not be presented as an employer-issued pay statement.
