Organize paid contractor invoices, partial payments, and project earnings without confusing revenue with wages.

Best Paystub Generator creates simulated earnings documents for lawful personal record-keeping. It does not verify employment or income and does not replace records issued by an employer or payroll provider.

Build a payment ledger first

List invoice number, client, invoice date, payment date, and amount received. Separate open invoices from paid ones. A contract’s headline value is not the same as earnings received for a particular period, and a payment can settle more than one invoice.

Example: track a partial payment

Illustration only: a $1,000 invoice receives $400 this month and $600 next month. Keep those receipts and dates in the ledger. If making a cash-receipts summary, record the $400 receipt in the first period rather than entering the full invoice and counting the second payment again.

Use the draft for the transaction it describes

Editable amount and label fields can summarize documented payments. Keep business expenses, owner transfers, and estimated tax payments in their own records. The generator does not determine contractor status or convert client payments into employer-issued wages; do not invent withholding that never occurred.

Frequently asked questions

Can an unpaid invoice be included?

Keep it in accounts receivable. The draft should clearly follow the same basis as its supporting records and must not describe an unpaid amount as a received payment.

Can I use a client’s logo as the employer?

Use the actual relationship and paying entity shown in your records. A client payment does not by itself make the client your employer or the issuer of this draft.
