Choose the right source: paycheck or settlement
An employee payroll statement and an owner-operator settlement report are different records. Start with the one that describes your arrangement, retaining the carrier, covered dates, load references, and amounts. Do not turn a settlement’s total revenue into employee wages simply by choosing a paystub layout.
Example: mileage and detention pay

Reconcile the carrier’s adjustments
